Faith

As I have mentioned before, we have our house on the market. It has been causing me stress, certainly more than it should (I would be the first to admit that!) I am trying my hardest to control my thoughts and I have turned to prayer and the Bible more than usual (certainly that is a good thing!) One thing I have been worrying about IS my worry. I should have enough faith that I can completely trust in God, right?

The other day, I found this page marked and it reminded me that I don't have to do it all. All I need to do is want to have enough faith and God will recognize and reward that.

It is the story of the boy who had been sick from childhood and the father brought the son to Jesus.

Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?"

"From childhood," he answered, "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."

" 'If you can'? " said Jesus, "Everything is possible for him who believes."

Immediately the boy's fater exclaimed, I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

When Jesus saw a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit, "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again."

The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out.

Mark 9:21-26

This was the little point of interest in the bible:
Most of us have been in the position of wanting to trust God completely but only being able to trust him partway. Some of us spend a lot of time in this "sort of" trusting mode. We can't bluff God; he knows how much we trust him. But he honors even a small faith presented to him honestly. Jesus' response to this man's admission was to drive the demon out of the boy, a miracle that ought to cause anyone's faith to grow from "sort of" to "totally!"

It is certainly good for me to remember that I don't have to be perfect.

Thankful Friday

1. For some reason, Elyse was really tired when we got back from the gym this morning and fell asleep on me before we even got up to bed. Since she is constantly moving around and does not cuddle much anymore, it was great to just snuggle with her in the rocking chair.

2. I beat Dennis at Wii baseball. The game actually ended because of the "Mercy Rule." I was beating him that bad.

3. Having a clean house all the time! This is one great thing about having our house on the market. It always looks nice (and it's actually not as hard as I expected it to be!)

4. A girl's night out tonight...

5. This new show on Comedy Central called "Important Things with Demetri Martin." Set your TiVo. It's hilarious.

Have a great weekend!!!

One Lonely Truffle...

I wanted to share this recipe, and luckily, before I ate the very last one, I remembered to take a picture.

These are OREO TRUFFLES!! I took them to my mom's club party and they were a huge hit. They look fancy but are pretty easy. Here is the recipe I got here

40 truffles (approximately)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Using a food processor, grind cookies to a fine powder. With a mixer, blend cookie powder, cream cheese and vanilla extract until thoroughly mixed (there should be no white traces of cream cheese).
  2. Roll into small balls and place on wax-lined cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 45 minutes.
  3. Line two cookie sheets with wax paper. In double-boiler, melt milk chocolate. Dip balls and coat thoroughly. With slotted spoon, lift balls out of chocolate and let excess chocolate drip off. Place on wax-paper-lined cookie sheet.
  4. In separate double boiler, melt white chocolate. Using a fork, drizzle white chocolate over balls. Let cool.
  5. Store in airtight container, in refrigerator.
Earlier today, Dennis asked me to not make these again any time soon. He can't resist them and neither can I. Oh, how I wish I had one right now...

A Day in the Life-Friday!

So, I fully realize that I missed a day. I forgot to bring my memory card with the camera and thus we don't have any pictures. Sorry. So, here's Friday!

7AM Get out of bed. It is usually too difficult to get up early on Fridays. I'm usually spent.

7:15 Get Elyse. Come down for breakfast, coffee, etc.

8AM Clean up the house. The Realtor came today to take pictures so we have it in tip-top shape. Elyse "helped" me sweep and clean up. She also colored the diaper box. (We're back to disposable while the house is on the market...we don't want to scare anyone away!)

9:15 Get dressed, fix hair, etc.

9:45 Leave with Elyse to meet the mom's club for our "Valentine Craft Time"

10 Had a great time with a house full of babies and moms.

12 Left. Each toddler seemed to be melting down at the same time.

12:15 Tried to keep Elyse awake in the car so she would get a nap at home by singing, grabbing her foot and asking her the color of anything in sight.

12:45 At lunch. Put Elyse down for a nap. Went down for a nap myself.

3 Woke up. Ate a piece of fat free chocolate cake. (I thought I was supposed to bring a snack to the party but it turned out I didn't need to so we got to enjoy the cake. Yummy!)

3:45 Decided to dress Elyse up for tomorrow's holiday and took pictures. You will get to see those tomorrow!

4:45 Left for dinner at the Outback. Ate some yummy chicken. Elyse CRACKED UP when Dennis and I did our "coaster flip."

6:30 Waked around K-Mart just for something to do. Found Elmo slippers for EKK.

7:15 Put Elyse down to bed. Now I'm down on the computer getting ready to do a bunch of work (How about that for a fun Friday night!)

Sorry so few pictures but the ones tomorrow will be worth it! :)

Have a great weekend!

A Day in the Life-Wednesday

6AM Up and out of bed. Came downstairs to make coffee, have some quiet time and do some work.

7AM Dennis brought Elyse down. What a sight she is with her messy hair and PJs!

7:30 Dennis left for work. Elyse and I ate some breakfast and watched a little Today show.

8:30 We went upstairs to do a few chores. We rewashed a load of laundry because I overfilled it and it didn't really get clean (I usually never do this...I'm serious). We went and folded some laundry. Elyse got really mad when I wouldn't give her all the hangers to play with!

Elyse then discovered the nose snot-getter-thing and had to go around the room cleaning everyone's nose including her monkey, mama, baby, and the carrot purse.

9:15 I put Elyse down for an early nap. I took a shower. Then I made a plane reservation to visit St. Louis at the end of April. I found a great deal and it will be a lot of fun!

10 AM I got a little more work done. Elyse woke up and we had a snack.

10:30 Gathered our things and headed off to "Hop Skip and a Jump" to meet the mom's club. We had a great time. Elyse loved exploring the place and I loved chatting with some other moms. (And I promise I do not talk on the phone while driving as she is imitating in the above picture).

12:15 Left "Hop Skip and a Jump" and headed off to the grocery store to pick up a few things. I decided to try out this "car" cart. It was much more difficult to maneuver than I expected! Elyse LOVED driving. She also got a sticker from the bagger. Yipee!!

1 PM Finally back home. We were both starving. First though, we noticed a package for Elyse on the front porch. She got a copy of Sandra Day O'Connor's new book from her Uncle Bryan. (Bryan was able to meet her last week!) We each had a yummy sandwich.

2:00 I put Elyse down for a nap. I prepared a few things for dinner and then I had to take a nap too. I fell asleep on the couch and didn't wake up until Dennis came home around four!

4:30 Made dinner, talked to Dana on the phone.

5:00 Ate dinner. It really wasn't very good but I guess they can't all be. I tried this recipe for a "Bourbon Beef Noodle Bowl." I think I added too much water or something because it was too diluted. Elyse loved the noodles.

6:00 Cleaned up the house while Dennis gave Elyse her bath.

7:00 Met with Realtor. I think we are going to use this guy. He comes highly recommended. We were not thrilled with the numbers but we expected them.

7:30 Plugged numbers and ordered a "St. Joseph" figurine to bury in the ground outside our house. Apparently he is supposed to help sell a house.

8:30 Watched "Zach and Miri Make a Porno" with Dennis. Funny but I wouldn't recommend it to a friend. It was good time to spend together.

10 PM Stress out over the sale of our house. Dennis and I go through all the reasons why we will be fine. (I'm stressing much more than him). I make a promise to him not to plug any more numbers or do any searches online. It is out of my control now!

10:51 Blogging. It is past my bedtime and as soon as I upload these pictures I am going to bed! Good night!

A Day in the Life-Tuesday

6AM Rolled out of bed. Came downstairs to Dennis making bacon and eggs. Had a bite of bacon. Got to work.

7:30 Elyse is up! (Did you know that when I go to get her, her response isn't MAMA...instead she always points at me and says something like "Pants!")

8 Ate some breakfast

9 Went for a walk in the wagon. (Elyse still had a cold so no gym) Chat with Diane. I wished I brought my camera because I would have taken several pictures of Puglie (Elyse's ugly doll) on the pavement. He kept falling out and I didn't know until Elyse would yell "PULLI" This walk included a stop at the neighborhood playground, the fist time since last year. Elyse was a little leery of the swing but I think she liked it. We went down the slide together and I got a wet butt.

10:30 Elyse down for a nap

11:45 Left to meet a friend for lunch. We stopped and the camera store to ask about a new lens but the girl didn't know much and they really did not have the selection I wanted.

12:30 Waited outside of Panera for a friend. Called Dennis and wondered where she was.

12:40 Received call from friend. Where are you? We were both at Panera but did not see each other. It turned out there are two in Paneras in VA Beach of the 58 AND next to Michaels!!!! Back in the car!

12:50 Arrived at the other Panera. Had a great lunch. Here's Stephie making a silly face.

2:30 Back home from lunch. I put Elyse in the crib and I enjoyed a cup of coffee, a cookie and some Millionare Matchmaker. I did some more work.

4:00 Left for Weight Watchers.

5:30 Came back and ate burritos that Dennis made. Yum!

6:30 Watched a little Elmo with Elyse.

7:00 Put Elyse down for bed.

7:30 Folded some laundry and did some work.

9:00 Watched the Biggest Loser, my favorite show ever!!

10:30 Dragged myself away from the interview of the mother of octuplets and went to bed!

A Day in the Life-Monday!

6AM: Crawled out of bed. Came downstairs and had some quiet time and got some work done. Drank coffee made by wonderful husband.

7:20: Went to get Elyse out of her bed. (She just sits in her crib and plays and talks now!) Wondered what could possibly be in her diaper (terrible smell) but it was only pee. I worried...what was going on? (Sorry if that was too much info!)

7:30 Came down stairs, sent dada off to work. Got Elyse milk and Kix, made her cereal.

8:30 Ate my oatmeal, watched the Today Show (how about that mom of octuplets?!)

9:00 Was indecisive about decision to go to gym. Elyse had a very snotty nose. Decided to do some weights and take a long walk in the wagon. Chatted with Lindsey during walk.

10:00 Home from walk. Slightly panicky because real estate agent we are interviewing quoted low price. Put Elyse down for a nap and cleaned the house!

11:30 Elyse up. We both had sandwiches for lunch and Skyped my mom.

12:15 We brought all the recycling into the Explorer and took it to the dump (can you believe there is no pickup here!) Went to Target to return something and only spent $10 on the way out on books for Elyse.

2:00 Home and Dennis is home too. Yipee! Hang out with dada. Vacuum a bit and Dennis put Elyse down for a nap. Dennis and I golfed and boxed on wii. (Would you believe I actually beat a Marine Corps black belt in a few rounds!)

3:00 Did some more work.

4:30 Started dinner and chatted with Steph on the phone. Ate pork wraps. Played around with Elyse. Watched Elmo's world!

7:00 Put Elyse down for bed. Read "The Paperbag Princess" and discussed the day (she loves doing this!)

8:00 Put clean sheats on the bed. Worked.

9:00 Some Mario Kart on the wii with Dennis (he beat me in every round this time).

10 Blogging and now bed. I'm pooped.

Things missing from today: a shower (really, I usually do shower everyday!) and some pictures. I'll try and be better tomorrow.

The Year's First Trip to the Park

Today was BEAUTIFUL!!! We could not resist going out into the beautiful weather and made a trip to the park. Elyse LOVED it!! There was a new dog walking by every minute and plenty of babies and birds to watch. Here are a few shots from today.

Oh, and this week I am going to make another attempt at the "week in the life" project. Last time I tried it only lasted a day but I promise to make my best effort!

The Eyes Have It

So I am going to enter my first photography contest! Over at i heart faces they have a contest every week. This week's theme is EYES! Since I have a daughter with gorgeous eyes, I couldn't help but enter. Here's my submission. I thought the extra eyes on the top of the head might just give me the push I need to win!

Wish me luck! :)

Staged

I'm finally back! Last week was busy. My mom came in town and we spent the week getting our house ready to go on the market! I have to say, it looks great. Thanks mom, for all your help!!! Now it is just a matter of keeping it picked up with a toddler running around...

Here are a few pictures.
