Technology Diet

Inspired by an Oprah show last week, Dennis and I have decided to go on a technology diet for the week. The point is to move away from just going to the computer or television and be more creative with our time. Here are the rules:

1. Only one hour total of TV/internet per day.
2. No Facebook.
3. Check e-mail only once a day.

I do still have to work, so that time certainly does not count towards my hour total. And, since I still get some screen time, I may or may not update the blog this week. We'll see.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Today was our first trip to the zoo! Here are some shots.

Dennis and Elyse checking out some animals.

Saying hello to the giraffes. "HI GIRAFFES!!"

We were there with our friend Kate and she was on the move! This is the view we had of Kate most of the time.

I think Dennis liked playing in the water more than Elyse did!

World's Most Dangerous Brownie Recipe

This recipe is dangerous because it is both delicious AND can be prepared in just over a minute with ingredients you probably already have in the pantry. If you are on a diet, stop reading here! :)

In a coffee mug combine 4 T flour, 4 T sugar, 2 T cocoa and a dash of salt. Add 2 T vegetable oil and 2 T water. Stir and microwave for 1 minute.

Belly Shot-19 Weeks

I can't believe it...we're almost halfway through this pregnancy. We went to the Dr. today and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was AWESOME to hear!!! It was in the 150s, right where it is supposed to be. I gained four pounds in the past four weeks which I guess is good.

Here are some shots of the big belly! See how much he's grown since last time!

In other news, I went to get Elyse up from her nap today (which actually wasn't a nap because she slept for 10 minutes in the car and yelled "MOMMY" for about an hour but that is not the point) and she was pointing at her pillow and crying a bit. My mom had made her a pillowcase with this fabric and she LOVES it (she loves anything with Elmo).

But, unfortunately she discovered the seam of the pillow with Elmo looking like this:
She was crying and saying "Done." She has such a love for Elmo, she doesn't want him to be disfigured like this. What a sweet girl! :)

This Year's Garden

We really wanted to grow some veggies in a garden this year, but alas, we'll be moving right in the middle of the summer making that pretty difficult. But, we're only going three hours away so I decided a potted garden could make it. Here's what Elyse and I picked out at the Home Depot today. There's a tomato plant in the middle of each, and some basil surrounding it (for homemade bruschetta of course!) and then flowers around for some beauty. Elyse's favorite thing to do lately is water flowers, so I don't think I'll have to worry about forgetting to water these.

You think they'll survive the move?! We'll see!!

Finger Painting

We're finally back!

We went to Target today and bought some finger paint. We LOVED it! Here are a few shots.

One of my "before we leave VA Beach" goals was to make my own finger paint. But, the recipe I found was using vanilla pudding and food coloring and that just sounded dangerous. Sticky and permanently staining. This stuff from Target worked great.
