Can you guess the baby's name?

We think we have come up with a name for baby number two. Some clues are below. See if you can guess it.

A few rules:
-We still have the luxury to change it if we want.
-You can't guess if I've already told you want it is.
-You can't tell us you don't like it.

Here are the clues:

First Name:
-One famous person with this name has met with communist leader.
-Another famous person with this name likes yellow.
-Another has lots of brothers and sisters.
-It is derived from a place.
-It can be spelled many ways, but we have decided to keep the tradition going and spell it with a "y".
-I never knew anyone with this name growing up but it is becoming rather popular.
-Part of the name is an emotion.

Middle Name:

-This word is found in both the title of a popular Christmas tune and a song from Ren and Stimpy.

We made the news!

I'm too tired to post what we did yesterday. Maybe I'll do it later.

BUT...Remember when we went to Great Wolf Lodge? Well, there was a anchor there from the Washington D.C. news channel doing a story on water safety. And, she decided to interview me. I finally remembered to search for the video online and here it is.

It's the one called "Are you Water Aware?" in case it doesn't come up right.

A Day in the Life-Wednesday

7:30 Slept in a bit, got up to Elyse talking. Ate some breakfast together.

8:30-9:30 Went on a walk in the neighborhood. It was actually bearable outside. We stopped at the park and chatted with some neighbors. Then Elyse and I cam back home and we trimmed back the flowers from the front porch. We got out the bubble mower that our neighbors gave us before they moved to Japan. (Yes, she is wearing the same dress as yesterday but it was only for a few hours in the evening!)

9:30-11:30 Came in, I took a shower, got dressed. We played, I put this together for dinner. (It was a hit, and included veggies and protein, both tough to get in EKK). It is amazing how slow time can sometimes go in the mornings. Usually we go somewhere, maybe an errand or to storytime or something.

12 We had a quick dance party in the living room to the tunes of Rocketman, ate some lunch, and then I put Elyse down for a nap.

12:30 I made some lunch for myself, and then made a batch of chocolate chunk cookies. Yummy!

3:30 Elyse woke up. Dennis and I hung out and played with her. I worked a bit on a project that I'm making for the baby's room. I'll be sure to post about it once it is done. Elyse tried to put her sunglasses on me. Not sure how we spent the rest of the time.

6:00 We ate lasagna for dinner, went to the park and got the mail. Dennis gave Elyse a bath and put her to bed while I hung out, watched TV, checked my e-mail and read a bit.

9:00 Researched childbirth DVDs and found one on Amazon. I went to bed!

A Day in the Life-Tuesday

5:20 Up and ready to start the day (sort of)

5:30 Made a protein shake, went off to the gym for a weights class

7:15 Came home, Elyse was up and hanging out with Dennis while he got ready. I jumped in the shower, we ate some yummy breakfast (oatmeal...yummy!)

8:45 We went over to a friend's house for a playdate. I was going to walk because it wasn't too far away but I couldn't get the stroller to unlock and honestly didn't try too far because it was hot out. The kids played, we sat and chatted.
The kids making a mess.

11:15 We came back home. I can't really remember what we did until lunch time. I think some laundry or something equally as exciting. I fed Elyse lunch and put her down for a nap.

12:30 I made myself a salad for lunch, and then a brownie in a mug to make up for the salad. Dennis came home early from work. I made the decision to try and hook up the TiVo. (When the cable guy came when we first moved in, he said it was going to be complicated so I've been putting it off since then). But, then I couldn't find the TiVo remote. I was willing to just wait and find it later but Dennis can't stand when he can't find something so we spent some time searching for it and finally found it. But then I didn't really feel like doing much of anything and fell asleep on the couch.

4:00 Elyse got up from her nap, we played around for a bit and then went out to dinner. We went to a place called "Firkin and Bulldog". I liked the look of it and Elyse liked the mac n' cheese.

6:30 We went on a tour of the hospital were this baby will be born. We've been telling Elyse that I have to go to the hospital to get the baby out so I think she was a little confused and thought we were going to get to see the baby today. The hospital was BEAUTIFUL! It's less than a year old, everyone was so nice. We'll get a nice big room with a bed for Dennis too. I started to get really excited about having this baby.

7:30 We stopped by the grocery store to get some ingredients to make cookies and drove by the apartment where we lived last time we lived in this area. Then, we stopped at Best Buy to get the new Smallville season DVDs. They didn't have it so Dennis had to run into Target.
Our old apartment.

8:00 Yaya called so I talked to her for a bit and put Elyse to bed. Dennis watched his DVD a little bit, I started reading "Water for Elephants" (the prologue is great! :) and we went to bed.

A Day in the Life-Monday

Here's the first day in a "Week in the Life". Hopefully I can keep up with it!

5:20 AM Up and out of bed. I spent a few minutes in quiet time, made a quick protein shake and left for the gym

6-7 Spin class

7-9:30 Showered, got Elyse, fed us both breakfast cleaned up a little around the house, played, etc.

10-11 Storytime at the library! This is our new favorite thing to do in Quantico. The library on base has a twice a week storytime for kids 0-2. They sing songs, read books, dance. Elyse loves it and I get some time to chat with other moms. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera and also forgot that I can take pictures with my phone now!

11:30-12:15 Stopped by the commisary to pick up a few things for dinner for the next few nights. Here is a video of Elyse singing a song about her new baby in the car. She did a better version before I pulled out the camera of course. The words are "where is click-click (the new baby), where is click-click, she's at home, we're so glad to see you, etc."

12:15-1 Came home, put the groceries away. Elyse loves to see the spider webs on our front porch so we went to hang out there for a bit. Elyse ate some lunch

1-2 I put Elyse down for a nap, got some work done and ate some lunch of my own

2-3:30 I was up early this morning so I took a nice long nap!

3:30-6 Dennis came home from work. We chatted for a bit, got Elyse from her nap and walked to the mailbox. Elyse played on the playground right there for a little bit. We came back home, turned on Elmo for Elyse and I made some chicken spedini for dinner.

6-7:30 Ate dinner. Played, Dennis gave Elyse some horseback rides.

7:30-8 I put Elyse down to bed.

8-10 Dennis and I watched "I Love You Man." Pretty funny! It was referred to as a "Bromance."

10 BED!

Coming tomorrow...

I think I'm going to do a "Week in the Life" starting tomorrow for the upcoming week. I haven't been good at taking pictures of "normal life" so maybe this will get me motivated. I did it back in Februrary...here and here are some of the links. We'll see how much has changed!

Visit from Nana and Papa

We had a great visit from my parents this week. Thanks to Skype and Elyse's age, she really understood that we were going to pick them up at the airport and ran up to them as soon as they walked out from security. It was great!

We got some stuff done around the house. The baby's room is officially arranged and organized. We picked out some really cute fabric that my mom is going to use to make a quilt and bumpers for baby number two's room. I love it! I can't wait to see how it all turns out. (Am I a lucky girl or what!) We made trips to Ikea and Wal-Mart, and Dennis and were able to go out TWO NIGHTS this week. Oh, and we made some really cute curtains. Pictures to come.

And on a funny note, my parents bought Elyse a new baby doll. We asked her what her name was and she responded with two "tongue clicks". So, her baby's name is "Click-Click." It's hilarous! She has consistently used her name and talks about how "click-click" is needs a diaper change or is crying, etc.

I wasn't very good at taking pictures but here are a few from this weekend. I've also updated the Shutterfly site with some pictures from this summer. Enjoy!

Because every girl needs a TUTU!

My friend Amber made her daughter and her friends tutus last Halloween. She explained how easy it was to make so when we walked past tulle at Wal-Mart today I couldn't resist.

Here is how I did it:

1. First I took a piece of elastic and measured it around her waist. I'm lazy and didn't want to sew it so I just used a safety pin to hold it together. And, I guess this makes it adjustable so maybe it will fit later.

2. Then, I took the tulle and cut strips twice the length that I wanted the length to be on the skirt. I folded it a few times to make the cutting easier, and it certainly didn't have to be perfect.

3. Then, I just took the tulle strips and tied them along the elastic. I used three yards of each color and just alternated. It was the perfect amount of fabric.

Unfortunately, my little ballerina wasn't so excited to wear her tutu. She was excited about the idea at Wal-Mart and even said that Zoe (from Sesame Street) wears tutus. She loved watching me start it. I finished it during her nap and as soon as she woke up, she shouted "TUTU" and ran downstairs to see it. But, she did NOT want to put it on. Eventually, I made her so I could at least get a picture (bad mommy!) and she wanted it off right away. I guess it might be itchy so maybe we'll do it with a onsie or something on under it. I guess a girl just has to be in the right mood to wear a tutu. Here are some pictures!

Little Love Letters

I love a good wall decal (maybe I'll post some pictures of the ones we've put up in this house) and I love ETSY too (it is just great that the stuff is sold by people like me). So, I was excited to see a giveaway for this store on Design Dazzle. I hope I win!

Elyse Prays

Here is a video of Elyse praying. She said a lot more before I was able to grab the camera but this is still worth sharing!

Yearly Picture Displays

Especially since the invention of digital cameras (and the birth of Elyse) it seems like I have SO many pictures and don't know what to do with them all. I wanted to display as many of my favorites as possible without having a million picture frames around the house. So, I decided to make collages. So far, I have made one with our favorite pictures of 2007 and one with our favorite pictures of 2008. There were really simple to do on Shutterfly, and only cost about $16. I did the 16x20 display. I found these great frames at Ikea (LOVE only being a few exits away). I hung them one above the other and they have a big impact (especially because all our other walls are still bare!) I think I'm going to try and come up with a way to write the year on the mats without it looking tacky.

2008 Pictures

Also, for our favorite pictures of 2008, I made this photo book. Also, pretty easy to do on Shutterfly. I didn't take the time to write in captions or anything, but most of the pictures are pretty self explainitory. It's a nice place to have all our pictures together from the year.

And, to make my life easier for next year, I've created a folder on my desktop called "2009Favorites" where I can just copy and paste our favorite pictures as we take them (thanks for the idea Angela!). That way, when I go to make the collage and photo book, I don't have to sort through the entire year's pictures to find the favorites.
